Stokesay Castle is in Shropshire. It is a 13th Century fortified manor house and is one of the finest and best preserved in England. Lawrence of Ludlow, a renowned wool merchant started builing the manor house in 1281. It's a small compact castle bursting with history and beauty. Well worth a visit.
